China Broadcasting Network Co., Ltd. (CBN) is a central cultural enterprise founded on May 28, 2014 with a registered capital of RMB 5,080.4 million after the 6th Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee called for “integrating cable TV networks and establishing a national broadcast network company”. CBN was approved by the State Council, funded by the Central Government, established and now operated by the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, with its funder’s duties performed by the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the State Council, and its financial relations managed by the Ministry of Finance, and its business supervised by the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

　　CBN is a product of the state strategy of building a cyber power and integrating the three networks (telecommunications network, computer network and cable TV network). It plays a pivotal role in the integration and development of cable TV networks across the country, the construction and operation of a platform that interconnects cable TV networks across the country, and the construction and operation of mobile broadcast networks.

　　CBN has been guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It pursues the strategy of smart broadcast networks and pushes forward with the coordinated development of “cable, wireless, satellite, international communication and content”. It follows the idea of beefing up the Party building, focusing on network integration and development, and setting up convergent service platforms, industrial platforms, and holding enterprise management platforms. It promotes the integration and intelligent construction of cable TV networks across the country, builds mobile broadcast networks upon technological innovation, expands international communication channels, strengthens marketing and product development, and accelerates resource sharing and integrated development, in a bid to create new convergent, controllable, secure and reliable broadcast networks that possess the features of cultural media and integrated information service and that give play to the important role of mainstream public opinion communication channels and national information infrastructure.
